I
want you to know how impressed I am by your 4x36 'Hunter's' binoculars. As an
amateur astronomer and telescope maker (ATM) I am very critical about optics. I
wanted to purchase a quality 'opera glass' for my sister who recently became an
opera lover. I looked at some rather expensive opera glasses sold at the Met
store at Lincoln Center and on the internet. They looked pretty but optically
and mechanically they were really bad! When I came across your web site your
'hunters' looked good. I thought that achromatic eye lenses and 3 element
achromatic objectives was 'over kill' for a mere 4x bino. But I was impressed
that the lenses were multi coated. Since then I can appreciate how much the
excellence of these glasses is due to careful attention to every detail. The
view is exquisitely clear. The image is remarkably bright and totally color
perfect. I took them to a concert last night. There was no feeling that I was
looking through a glass.... It was as if I were actually 4x closer to the
performers! The night was clear. So I looked up at the stars thru them. The acid
test! Perfectly clear and bright!
Sincerely, Robert Kearns / 12-06-01

Galilean binoculars with 4x magnification are hard to find in nowadays. It is
marginal magnification for this type and their optical design usually more complicated
and expensive as to compare with 2.5x, which are most common design for Galilean binoculars.
Since the design is straight and there are no prisms inside, they are fast and deliver very
bright colorful image even at low light conditions. They are same good for viewing indoor
events and watching wildlife in the woods where light gathering capability is more important
then visibility range since the viewing objects may be shadowed and do not receive adequate
illumination. Generally, the viewer may expect very good performance at the distances from 2
to 200 meters in any application where the illumination is a critical factor.
